Total War Shogun 2 review in numbers

On condition that you have a proper computer, Shogun 2 will delight you with a lot of troops on screen (all well animated and detailed) and breathtaking scenery.

Entertainment: 10

The battles of Shogun 2, whether naval or land, are all really challenging, deep and entertaining. The units are all well differentiated from each other and therefore the choice of units in the pre battle is really decisive for the victory, sometimes just a small mistake and you'll find yourself in trouble. Every battle, even the most "meaningless",requires great attention to detail and this together with an excellent control system makes Total War Shogun 2 a real strategy game.

Single player: 10

The single player (which also includes the skirmish mode) offers a really compelling campaign mode in which, by selecting one of the Sengoku era Clan, we must unite Japan to become Shogun. To do this we must not only fight and conquer territories, but we must also provide for diplomacy and financiers of our empire.


Multiplayer: 10
The Shogun 2 multiplayer is awesome. At first we need to create an avatar and decide his specialization (for example I have chosen the sword) and the appearance, then you have to form an army (which initially will be limited in types of units but then, gaining land on the multiplayer map of Japan will become truly personal and unique) and take it on the map of Japan where the battles will begin. The beauty is that if you become part of a clan you can take part in inter-clan battles for domination of the entire Japan, and trust me is truly amazing.


For how long?: 10
Between multiplayer and single player will be busy for dozens of hours.


Innovation: 8
Renew a RTS is a difficult task but I think that The Creative Assembly has managed it by adding some new features here and there in the gameplay but also pulling out of the hat a great and renovated multiplayer, and nice sea battles (very accurate too).
